LONDON, June 25 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump will pay a three-day working visit to Britain next month and policing for his security alone will cost British taxpayers as much as 5 million pounds (some 6.6 million U.S. dollars).

Trump's visit which starts on July 12 is expected to draw mass protests in London and protecting the U.S. president will require between 5,000 and 10,000 officers working overtime, the major daily newspaper, The Times, reported Monday.

Riot vans, search dogs for firearms and explosives, helicopters, mounted officers, public order units, protest removal units and evidence-gathering units will join counterterrorism and specialist protection officers to guarantee Trump's safety, the report said.

They will need support from civilian staff in control rooms, analysts, researchers and police community support officers to man road closures.

Special elite armed officers and counter-terror "robocops" will also be on standby in case of attacks, according to reports.

President Trump will fly into Britain following a NATO summit in Brussels, Belgium, with his heavy-duty military back-up and an entourage of U.S. secret service officers. He is also expected to play golf, possibly at Trump Turnberry golf course in Scotland. (1 British pound = 1.33 U.S. dollars)
