HANGZHOU, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Yiwu International Trade Market -- the world's largest small commodities market, located in east China's Zhejiang Province -- reopened to customers from all over the world on Saturday.
The market typically opens on the 12th day of the first month on the Chinese lunar calendar, after the Spring Festival holiday. A reopening ceremony was held at the Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center, which was inaugurated last October.
"I deliberately wore red today, hoping for prosperous business in the new year," said Lyu Mingjun, who owns a store in the center. Orders had already been received during the holiday, and work needed to resume as soon as possible to ensure timely delivery, Lyu added.
Shortly after the ceremony concluded, a customs declaration form for a batch of goods destined for Germany was submitted to the customs system, becoming the market's first export customs declaration in the Year of the Horse. The goods consisted mainly of small commodities such as plastic products, daily textiles and tableware, and the entire process from declaration to review was completed in a matter of minutes.
Zhu Xingping, deputy general manager of the center, said that the next step will focus on arranging service functions and resources for the journey of exports, enabling more business operators to enjoy the conveniences of digitalized trade, and helping them to expand into overseas markets in an improved manner. ■
