BUENOS AIRES, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Ander Herrera struck his first goal of the season as Argentina's Boca Juniors cruised to a 3-0 home win over Ecuadorian side Barcelona SC in the Copa Libertadores group stage on Tuesday.

Lautaro Di Lollo gave the hosts the lead with a towering header after Lautaro Blanco's pass from the left wing.

Boca doubled its lead through Santiago Ascacibar, who met Alan Velasco's cross with a diving header from outside the six-yard box.

Former Manchester United midfielder Herrera, an 86th-minute substitute for Tomas Aranda, completed the rout when his long-range effort flew into the bottom left corner after taking a deflection.

It was the 36-year-old's first goal in 10 games across all competitions for the Buenos Aires club in 2026.

Barcelona SC controlled 37 percent of the possession and rarely threatened in attack with one shot on target.

The result leaves Boca top of Group D with six points from two games while Barcelona SC is fourth, having yet to pick up a point.

Elsewhere in the Copa Libertadores on Tuesday, Coquimbo won 2-0 at Universitario, LDU Quito prevailed 2-0 at home to Mirassol, Bolivar was held to a 1-1 home draw by Deportivo La Guaira, Cerro Porteno edged to a 1-0 home win and Estudiantes clinched a 2-1 home victory over Cusco. ■
